steering wheel diameter

Weird question. Would someone be so kind as to measure the diameter of an 8N steering wheel. Not the width, which I know is 18" but the diameter of the wheel where you put to hands to steer. Thanks

This may be a weird answer, but the width IS the diameter. The circumference, or the distance around the wheel, would be 18" x 3.1416 = 56.5488".

my one is 5/16 rod with out the black plastic and 7/8 with the plastic on there on a 1948 8n

I think he wants to know the diameter of the hand grip.

It is about the same as my thumb.

.860 on the low spots and .915 on the high spots. This is a replacement wheel from who knows where. David................
