Just purchased a MF 135 with 4 cyl. Continental. One curious thing is the serial number plate is riveted to a plate below the battery on left side. Is this normal? Serial number indicates it is a 1965 model.
The left rear step bracket is broken. Purchased a new one but not an exact fit. Bolt pattern (2 holes down by PTO selector) line up fine, but rear mounting holes in the step plate and holes in the new rear bracket don't line up, about 3/4 inch off. My question is this. If I later wanted to restore this tractor (it's in good shape now, previous owners have been gentle) would it be a big negative with two extra mounting holes in the step? This may sound like a silly question to some, but just wondering as I would like to restore this tractor some day and take it to shows. I might be able to rig the front bracket with some spacers so the holes line up in the rear bracket but that would take a lot more work than just drilling new holes in the step to fit.
Also, this is my 2nd tractor, the 1rst being a Ford 9N. Question about the rear 3 pt. lift operating levers on the right side below the seat on this 135. There are 2 levers. The inside lever raises whatever is hooked up but only if the outside lever is up all the way. Is this normal and can someone explain why two levers? Thanks
