Hi folks, ive got a d4 dozer not sure year model, the question is it gets hot still after we changed ,head, heag gasket waterpump thermostat oil cooler torque con, roded the radiater, flushed it, Any ideas Thanks.

I take it the rad is clean both inside and out,it could be a loose/leaking precombustion chamber or a loose liner, examine the old head gasket, look closely it the seal area that sits on top of the liners,it should look silvery right the way around,if there is a black area on it it suggets that compression gases were escaping into the coolant,if the water pump is belt driven, warm up the engine, slacken off the fan belts so the pump stays still,if its gear driven allow for the coolant moving, fill the rad, start the engine on low idle, watch the coolant for air bubbles,if you are getting bubbles compression is leaking in,possible precom, loose liner of cracked head all common to Cat engines.

After all that two possibilities come to mind. 1 is your fan on the right way. It should be blowing out thru the radiator. 2 there could be enough trash, stop leak ect in the block that it hinders coolant flow especially behind the #4 liner. You didn't mention the heat regulator, Thermostat. It needs the thermostat to control the flow of water if it is not restricted it will neither pick up or give up heat properly. Is you temp gauge good?

Sounds like you"ve done a lot of things to fix the problem. But are you sure it is actually overheating? What I mean by that is the machine steaming or blowing hot water out of the system etc? Or are you simply looking at the temp gage alone? If so, the temp gage could be wrong. Might be something wrong with the gage, sensor or wire. Also, you didn"t mention cleaning the crud out of the air passages on the radiator so that you have good flow through it at all times. That"s critical. You also didn"t mention the drive belt. Is it tensioned properly?

ake sure your temp gauge is working right. Had a d6d did the same thing

You are very sparce on details, did you just buy this machine and the overheating started as soon as you worked it or have you the machine for some time and it was ok up till recently, that will tell us that are trying to help you that things like the fan direction can be left out of the equation if it was ok before this, get the serial number off the left steering clutch housing,on the left and above the drawbar,I would agree with the dropped liner theory, did you check the protrusion of the liners when the head was off,if not you should have done, there are several kits that can tell if compression is leaking into the coolant, good luck.
