stuck 4-star

I bought a 4 star that you could turn the motor over with the fan blade and in the process of getting it running it seized up. Is there anything else that could have locked the motor up? I had it cranking over and it had oil pressure. And it still will not turn over now with the clutch in. Any ideas?

I would check the starter and see if it some how is stuck in the ring gear. Had this happen on my 335 was running fine went to start it and nothing had the starter drive hung up in the ring gear. worth a shot.

Will it turn over with the sparkplugs out? A friend went to look at a WD Allis for sale. It would turn over after setting out side with exhaust covered. Turned out, after forcing it to turn over TDC -one cyl let go with a shower of water out the muffler. Then it turned over fine -friend didn't buy the tractor!

Yes, I had a 1939 R that would do this. I would stick it 4th, engage the clutch, and rock the rear wheels and it would pop the starter loose. The ring gear was beyond shot!

Had a 283 chevy small block like that.Turned over nice at first even fired a few times then turned over slower an slower .Changed batteries and changed starter eventually it siezed up.Took it apart to find a thin coating of rust from cylinder walls embeds itself behind the rings in the space between the ring and the piston, forcing the ring against the wall and gettin tight. I hope this did not happen to you.
