Stuck engine

I have a 47 8N, left the spark plugs out for a few days noe the engine is stuck. I have tried WD-40 and a bit of motor oil down the cylinders, no luck.

Any suggestions what to do without taking it apart?

What have you tried to break it free? Sometimes jacking up one side of the tractor and rocking one rear wheel back and forth with the transmission in high gear will free it up. Make sure the other wheel has the brake on and the front ones are blocked.

I would not suggest towing the tractor since this could cause some serious internal damage depending on how stuck it really is.

Good luck.

Blow that stuff out of the cylinders with compressed air. The fill them with tranny fluid. The set a good hot 12 volt battery in it after a few days and DO NOT turn it on but hit the starter button with short fast hits. Most likely it will pop free. NEVER ever leave the spark plugs out for any reason what so ever or you will have all sorts of problems from mice to digf dobbers etc. I have done more then 20 stuck tractorsa and out of all of those only 2 didn't pop free

Thanks for your reply, I will try your suggestion. When you said tranny fluid, did you mean automatic transmission fluid?

Oh by the way the tractor is a 49, couldn't be a 47 and a 8N.

Thanks for your suggestion. I already tried what you suggested, didn't work it's really stuck. Think I will give the tranny fluid suggestion from "Old"

Brake fluid and PB Blaster work well. I've heard ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid) works, but I have tried it and had no luck yet. PB Blaster and brake fluid have worked very well for getting engines loose.

Yep A-T fluid is tranny fluid I use dextron 3 most of the time. As far as the year they started makeing the 8N in 1947 but called them a 1948 model tractor sort of like they do with cars now days

I had a tractor that sat for around 20 years.

I ended up taking off the head and currently am rebuilding the engine.

But even with the head off mine wouldn't budge. What got it going was taking out the starter and taking a pry bar to the ring gear.

Pretty easy to do only 3 bolts, and it might do the trick.

None of the soaking liquids worked for me, and when we pulled the pistons we had stuck rings on all pistons.

Old, Thanks for that bit of info. I went to your web site and see you have lots of old tractors. Wouldn't know where I can get a tool box / running board for my Jubilee, would you?
