Stuck JD 60

I messed up several months ago by dumping what I thought was gasoline into my 1956 JD 60. The engine wouldn"t start so I let it sit a few weeks. Then I tried again. It would turn over but not fire. Finally, after checking everything else, I checked the gas. It was mostly water. I drained the tank and cleaned the carb but now the engine is stuck. So how do I unstick it? I took the flywheel cover off and tried to pry it loose with a big bar but no luck. Any ideas? Thanks, DY

The first thing I would do is pull the head and see which way to turn the crank so you do minimal damage to the cylinders. Start soaking it with your favorite monkey juice. PB Blaster works pretty good along with a lot of patience. Might be a good idea to loosen the valves so you don't bend a push rod.

I have a hose that I made that screws into the spark plug hole on a tractor and then the other end is hooked up to the hydraulics on another tractor. It works every time but you have to [u:47bcae857e][b:47bcae857e]be careful[/color:47bcae857e][/size:47bcae857e][/b:47bcae857e][/u:47bcae857e]

I had a 404 combine engine in here last week that I put in a 4020, it was stuck I put it in 8th gear and gave it a good shacking,,it didn't move. So I pulled the manifold sprayed PB blaster in around the valves waited a bit and gave it another good shaking and it broke loose,,a little later it was running,,it don't take much rust to stick them. In your situation pull the spark plugs and spray some in and then put in 6th gear and shake her.The back and forth motion is what makes it work...

After thoroughly SOAKING the cylinders with Penetrating oil, I have put a short chain through one of the holes in the flywheel and attached a "Come-Along" to that loop of chain...with the other end attached to a solid bolt in the front side-frame.
Try it, then reverse the direction of the pressure and I think you will get it loose...
I would not put more than 50 to 60 pounds pull on the Come-along handle..that would be a fair amount of pressure on the internal parts..!

Years ago I saw a John Deere 50 that someone tried the hydraulic trick on. The block was split wide open, the man who owned it said it was a miracle somebody didn't get hurt!

what happens to your oil pressure if it's stuck BDC?...best to pull the head.. have gotten only [1] out of many unstuck without some kind of damage...pull the head

After I filled the cylinders with PB Blaster, I jacked up the left rear wheel. Then I put a fire wood round under the left side if the hitch frame for safety. Every day I top off the cylinders and rock the wheel with the transmition in 6th gear. No luck so far but I"ll keep trying.

Several weeks ago did the same with "John B" our 43B, but with no success.

Jacked up the left wheel and rocked the wheel back an forth with the transmission in high gear.

Read your original post last Friday and <a href="http://www.ytmag.com/cgi-bin/viewit.cgi?bd=ttales&th=791">tried another method</a> that worked.

Went out to the shop this morning and rolled the flywheel over a couple of times to keep it loose.

Be patient and you'll eventually get your 60 loose.
