Super C Belt Pulley

I have a C with a belt pulley and a Super C without one. Can they be switched? Also the Super C PTO growls when engaged and sounds like it is running dry or something! How does oil get into that area, I see a small pipe plug on the side that looks like a level plug but do not see any place to put in oil except the main oil plug on top of the transmission. It might have a bad bearing, if so how do you go about replacing it.

Oil slinging around from the transmission and differential gears gets "pumped" into the housing that contains the belt pulley gears. Both the passage where oil gets into the belt pulley gears and especially where it drains back are pretty small so I suppose they could get gunked up

There is a plug in the top the pto housing that you can add grease/oil through along with the one in the top of the transmission. You really only need to add oil to the pto sump when you change the fluid. Like Leon said, the rearend gears slop oil up into the pto sump. The pto sump probably holds about a quart. If the rearend is up to the proper level it should splash a sufficient amount of oil to the pto. The pto assembly is easy to remove. The gaskets and bearings are still available from Case/IH. I have the parts cd and can email you the page if you need it.

Yes it will work on either tractor.
