looking at a fairly nice super c ,single front, good paint, havent heard it run, good tires, anyone could give me a average price to offer the man, on a scale of 1-10, 10 the best its a good 7.

I have a nice SC with a Woods mower and very good tires(I should switch with the ones on my working SC)for $2000.00 and I will park it in the barn before I would take less.

Rick, when I bought mine in 2005 it was a 1953 model with a complete factory fast hitch system and I had previously looked at least at 25 or more when I deceided this was the one. It didn't run but everything was very tight and obviously wasn't abused having an easy prior life. It had very straight sheet metal especially the grille which is very hard to find and to replace without spending a few Ben Franklins. Mine was perfect so that entered in as most I had previously seen were trashed. I got it running quickly with little effort and no expense as the wire between the coil and switch was broken under the battery box. The guy also had someone try and get it running and they had the distributor out so that was another issue for me to get back in the right place along with needing a generator armeter, voltage regulator and new battery. I paid $1500 for mine but it was certainly a far cry from a parts tractor even in the condition it was and it overall was probably like a 5 at best when I found it. I have since restored it and it is an exceptionally nice tractor which is still used in the hay field with the hay rake and taking wagons to the barns. It just gets a bath on Saturday night during hay season now and I'm the sole driver. I hope you find one which pleases you as much as mine did me as they are an exceptional and useful tractor of their era and I truly enjoy the fast hitch and looking for rare and unique implements for it, Hal.

I paid $2500 for one with the sickle mower, but it had original tires, and they were still like new. It sat for many, many years. I had to replace that carbon throwout bearing and pilot bearing was wowed out, but it was a like new tractor.

I pd $500.00 for a 53SC w FH that motor was locked up. Needed paint and tires. I put $250 worth of parts and several hours tinkering and got it running.

Paid $1,000 for mine. Excellent sheet metal, fast hitch, IH front mounted show blade, 2-bottom quick hitch plow, wide front, wheel weights and good tires (some cracking). Now the bad news - stuck engine. I put approximately $300 into the engine and is now running great.

If $1500 is more than $300-400 off the seller's price, don't bother.

I've been watching the ads, and a lot of guys think they have a "golden shoebox." Asking $2500, $3000, $4000 for a plain old Super C that's nothing special, not even painted.
