Super C fast hitch?

The first fast hitch on the Super C was in 1953, most likly towards the end of year Sept... on ward.

You could have put a fast hitch on the earlier ones but 53 is the first year that you could get them factory instaled on Super C, look in the books by Guy Fay, "The Farmall Leter Series"

No, the first SC's did not have it but the early SC's and the C's for that matter were drilled for fast hitch, so yours was added.

I have a late 52 model ( serial #154595 ) that my Dad bought new with the fast hitch and I'm pretty sure it came from the factory that way. I brought this up to Mr FAY a few years ago and he told me that the 53 note in his book was only an appoximation as there is no firm documentation on this issue. He said it is very possibly that some earlier SC's were shipped with the two point fast hitch.

1953, but I've got an IH instruction manual around here somewhere that has about three different fasthitch kit numbers depending on serial numbers to install hitch on older SuperC tractors. Does'nt say anything about straight C's. I think my 53 Super C casting dates are April but I've only had it eighteen years so who knows if it's an original or added later, looks orignal to me.

Harvester first showed the Fast-Hitch to dealers as part of presentations done at Hinsdale in July 1953. They had to have built a few tractors with it before July to have something to show. No way would they have shipped any to dealers in '52. If a '52 was sold new with a Fast-Hitch, it must have stood around somewhere for a while before somebody added the hitch to the tractor.

That was what I was thinking. If the 52 had a hitch "new" it might have been a tractor that set there a while and a FH was added to help make it sell. Ron
