Super C oil pan

Hi, I went to replace my oil pan with a good used one and found the oil plug to be a different size? Interesting, never new they made a change in drain plug size. Tractor is 1953. Can anyone shed light on this? I would like to keep my tractor original as possible. Terry [email protected]

What kind of difference? My 47 BN has a square-head 1/2" pipe plug. My 51 SuperC has a more automotive type plug, large hex head over a maybe 5/8" or 3/4" fine thread.

Dis you start with the larger plug and perhaps get an older pan that will fit?

My 50 Farmall C had a pipe plug for the drain in the pan,the replacement pan had an automotive plug in it with a copper sealing washer.I found out that this was one of the changes they made when they came out with the Super C(I expect Super A to be the same).

That information came from Guy Fay's book.

I think that is what is going on. I bought one off ebay and tried to do a transplant. I was thinking my pan had a crack near the flange edge. It was welded but I was thinking it was still leaking. It looks as though the welds are good but the center bolt hole was leaking oil around it. Thanks, Terry

My original pan used the automotive style pan plug. The pan I bought came without a pan plug. I assumed they were all the same. Oh well, live and learn something new. I will inspect my original pan closely and if I can't find a leak, I will put it back on. If someone out there has a nice newer style pan they want to get rid of, let me know. Thanks, Terry
