We finally got some time to get Sven’s wheels painted & mounted so we could pull start him. The starter motor would just kick out every time he fired and the motor was so tight that there wasn’t enough momentum to stay running. Now that he runs we have a few clean up items to do; fix the oil leak in the valve covers, shorten the check chains by one link, fix the leak in the exhaust coupler. Not too bad considering all that could have gone wrong with a “bean counter” doing the mechanicing. The oil pressure is a bit low (5# at slow idle and 30# at ½ throttle) but I can live with that. Now on to the tins.
Here is a video of the start up. In the interest of full disclosure, it is the second time we started him behind the truck but the first went just as fast.
