DOES ANYONE HAVE A GOOD WAY TO GET RID OF RACCOONS OUT OF A SWEET CORN PATCH. OLD FARMER TOLD ME TO SPRAY GROUND RED PEPPER AND WATER ON IT.ANYONE EVER HEARD OF SUCH. OR IS HE PULLING MY LEG ON THIS ONE. JIM

I just tried the liquid fence product from TSC on mine. It works well on deer. Haven't seen new damage on the corn but a little early to know. Stuff stinks really bad. I'll know over the next week if it works. I wouldn't have a problem with shooting them except it means sitting in the corn patch all night and around here there is an endless supply of raccoons.

Can you get 110 volts there? A cheap electric transformer and a three wire fence works for me. One wire at 4 inches, another at 10 inches and the third at 18 inches.
Or you could get a battery operated unit and bring the battery in every 4-5 days for a charge during the day. You only need it 8 hours a day.

If you're lucky enought to have lots of room for sweet corn, plant three times what you need and share with racoons and deer. That's the only way I get corn in the freezer each year. I also plant three crops of corn, the first crop already plowed in, second one ready in about seven days, and the third about knee high. That breaks up the work load for us and allows us to share with several neighbors.
I like the .22 method, but it doesn't work well at midnight.

If you can, Direct message me. I have a way that doesn't involve staying up all night, however it won't kill the deer.

Flybait with a little pop mixed in a bowl. Put it out at night, don't let other animals in it as it will kill them dead within 20ft. Cats so far are the only thing that it doesn't seem to really kill.
