Can you use a 12 vote conversion kit for a T0-30 on a T0-20. I can make brackets if needed.

Rod, the only difference between the 20 & 30 is the generator mount. Everything else is the same. So, yes, if you don't mind fabricating your own alternator brackets, the 30 kit will work on the 20. Not 100% sure what all you get in the kit, if it comes with a belt, that belt may or may not fit, depending on how your alternator brackets compare to the TO30 brackets.
If the kit comes with a 12V coil, or a resistor for your stock 6V coil, that will work just fine on your TO20.

Forgot a couple things:

So the kit at the top of this page will work fine on the TO-20 except for brackets? Just wanted to confirm, because it says TO-30 ONLY. They maybe should make a note about this on the ad.

Also, the 6v. starter will hold up fine with 12 volts?

Yes, Your 6V starter will be just fine on 12V. There are thousands of Fergys & N's running 6V starters with 12V systems.

That bracket in the picture for the kit above looks like a generic alternator bracket that I've seen on other sites, not like it's made special just for the TO30. They apparently don't have a generic bracket to fit the TO20, so they can only market it for "TO30 only".
That kit above comes with the resistor for the coil. That will work the same for the TO20 or 30. So yes, if you can round-up your own brackets, that kit should work on a TO20 or 30.

hanks! I'm a self-employed toolmaker so making things out of steel are not a problem. It's the electrical stuff that I have very little knowledge of.

One more thing:

I replaced the factory shifter/solenoid in the late '70s with an off the shelf Ford solenoid, mounted under the battery. And I replaced that with a new one in '03.

Will this work ok with 12 volts?
