Tax rebate ?

So the President wants to send us all a tax
refund, or rebate, hoping we'll spend it to help
the economy.. How many, do you suppose, will
spend it on forign made goods? (Chinese?)

This is just ole Bush doing some more deficit spending. He has a 7 year record of spending like a drunk sailor in a house of ill repute. Our entire military equipment line-up has been worn out in the desert sands and will have to be replaced/refurbished over the next decade. Think of the billions and billions just to replace the tanks/personel carriers, and other track equipment. Much of our stuff is so worn out they will just demolish it overseas, not even worth shipping home to a national guard unit for training. A whopping deficit is what you get when you cut taxes and then go on a warring spree. He should have created a special sur-tax on every american citizen to finance the war. Now with all the past 7 years of deficit spending, they are trying to bail out a faltering economy by incresing the deficit spending. What a load of BS. Tom

Well, I, for one, take seriously my responsibility as an American to use this windfall to help the American economy, stimulate growth and provide good, family-wage jobs. So I'm going to use my rebate to build a steel mill. LOL. Actually, to send a little message that what we need most is tax relief, I'm going to endorse that self-same check to the order of the U. S. Treasury, and send it in as a quarterly estimated tax payment. I expect they will reject it as a two party check, after which I can have a little fun with them ("So, you won't accept it? It's YOUR CHECK!!! Do you think it'll bounce? I'm sure glad I sent it to you if its gonna bounce- much better than getting in hot water with my bank. . .")

I just heard on the news that the scammers are already working the rebate thing. Calling and acting like they are the IRS and wanting bank and personal info so they can direct deposit your rebate check for ya.

and with the manufacturing mostly overseas, even our own government will have to spend overseas to build our own military back up we don't need a tax refund we need JOBS!!! Bring the jobs and the service people BACK HOME!!! QUIT TRYINT TO SOLVE THE WORLD PROBLEMS AND SOLVE OUR OWN FIRST

And you don't think 911 was a problem that we have to deal with? and you don't think something else will never happen just by quiting and coming home? That it all can be solved by just bringing our men and women home? This is our problem and there are no easy way out.

No there is no easy way out but we shouldn,t be there in first place. secondly we will pass such a deficiet on to our grandkids to pay that we should be ashamed of ourselves. Third what if China or even Mexico want their money now, not a good picture

The worst part is, we will borrow the money for
these checks from China, so we can spend them at
walmart for Chinese goods. Whose economy are we
helping, anyway?

Wal Mart will get a lot of it.Along about July they will say who you need to vote for to get it,probly nnalert.

I, for one plan to spend any rebate money received on American made products. Not foreign products sold by American retailers, but products made here in the USA, by United States citizens working for US companies.

It won't be easy, but it'll be worth it. A quick google search shows that there are a lot of retailers that specialize in this. Also, home improvements are mostly made in the USA, although the materials needed might not be.

I encourage all US citizens to consider this possiblility. Think of how much we could stimulate our economy if all this money stayed here at home.

This English teacher has phrased it the best I"ve seen yet.

Tomatoes and Cheap Labor

CHEAP TOMATOES?
This should make everyone think, be you nnalert, nnalert or Independent

From a California school teacher - - -

"As you listen to the news about the student protests over illegal immigration, there are some things that you should be aware of:

I am in charge of the English-as-a-second-language department at a large southern California high school which is designated a Title 1 school, meaning that its students average lower socioeconomic
and income levels

Most of the schools you are hearing about, South Gate High, Bell Gardens , Huntington Park , etc., where these students are protesting, are also Title 1 schools.

Title 1 schools are on the free breakfast and free lunch program. When I say free breakfast, I"m not talking a glass of milk and roll -- but a full breakfast and cereal bar with fruits and juices that would make a Marriott proud. The waste of this food is monumental, with trays and trays of it being dumped in the trash uneaten. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)

I estimate that well over 50% of these students are obese or at least moderately overweight. About 75% or more DO have cell phones. The school also provides day care centers for the unwed teenage pregnant girls (some as young as 13) so they can attend class without the inconvenience of having to arrange for babysitters or having family watch their kids. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)

I was ordered to spend $700,000 on my department or risk losing
funding for the upcoming year even though there was little need for anything; my budget was already substantial. I ended up buying new computers for the computer learning center, half of which, one month later, have been carved with graffiti by the appreciative students who obviously feel humbled and grateful to have a free education in America . (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)

I have had to intervene several times for young and substitute te achers whose classes consist of many illegal immigrant students here in the country less then 3 months who raised so much hell with the female teachers, calling them "Putas" (whores) and throwing things, that the teachers were in tears.

Free medical, free education, free food, day care
etc., etc, etc. Is it any wonder they feel entitled to not only be in this country but to demand rights, privileges and entitlements?

To those who want to point out how much these illegal immigrants contribute to our society be cause they LIKE their gardener and housekeeper and they like to pay less for tomatoes: spend some time in the real world of illegal immigration and see the TRUE costs.

Higher insurance, medical facilities closing, higher medical costs, more crime, lower standards of education in our schools, overcrowding, new diseases etc., etc, etc. For me, I"ll pay more for tomatoes.

Americans, We need to wake up. The guest worker program will be a disaster because we won"t have the guts to enforce it. Does anyone in their right mind really think they will voluntarily leave and return?

It does, however, have everything to do with culture: A third-world culture that does not value education, that accepts children getting pregnant and dropping out of school by 15 and that refuses to assimilate, and an American culture that has become so weak and worried about "political correctness" that we don"t have the will to do anything about it.

If this makes your blood boil, as it did mine, forward this to everyone you know.

CHEAP LABOR? Isn"t that what the whole immigration issue is about?

Business doesn"t want to pay a decent wage.

Consumers don"t want expensive produce.

Government will tell you Americans don"t want the jobs.

But the bottom line is cheap labor. The phrase "cheap labor" is a myth, a farce, and a lie. There is no such thing as "cheap labor."

Take, for example, an illegal alien with a wife and five children. He takes a job for
$5.00 or 6.00/hour. At t hat wage, with six dependents, he pays no income tax, yet at the end of the year, if he files an Income Tax Return, he gets an "earned income credit" of up to $3,200 free.

He qualifies for Section 8 housing and subsidized rent.

He qualifies for food stamps.

He qualifies for free (no deductible, no co-pay) health care.

His children get free breakfasts an d lunches at school.

He requires bilingual teachers and books.

He qualifies for relief from high energy bills.

If they are or become, aged, blind or disabled, they qualify for SSI. Once qualified for SSI they can qualify for Medicare. All of this is at (our) taxpayer"s expense.

He doesn"t worry about car insurance, life insurance, or homeowners insurance.

Taxpayers provide Spanish language signs, bulletins and printed material.

He and his family receive the equivalent of $20.00 to $30.00/hour in benefits.

Working Americans
are lucky to have $5.00 or $6.00/hour left after paying their bills and his.

The American taxpayers also pay for increased crime, graffiti and trash clean-up.

Cheap labor? YEAH RIGHT! Wake up people!

THESE ARE THE QUESTIONS WE SHOULD BE ADDRESSING TO THE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES FOR EITHER PARTY. "AND WHEN THEY LIE TO US AND DON"T DO AS THEY SAY, WE SHOULD REPLACE THEM AT ONCE!"

THIS HAS GOT TO BE PASSED ALONG TO AS MANY AS POSSIBLE OR WE WILL ALL GO DOWN THE DRAIN BECAUSE A FEW DON"T CARE

AMEN!!!

Be back up a little bit and not include ALL. Only those that have to file a tax claim will see any thing and those on limited income and draw S.S. will not see a dime

Please don't take this wrong but you stated: "No there is no easy way out but we shouldn,t be there in first place." I will preface by saying I think our notion of what would happen was sadly mistaken. I work in the heart of the largest middle eastern population in the US and I believe the Feds grossly misjudged what the outcome was going to be. Clearly they did not understand the cultures they were dealing with.

That being said - my question, and I have not gotten an answer from quite a few pople I have asked is: "What would have been the proper response to 911?" During the previous administration we had embassies bombed and the USS Cole attacked and we chose non agression and the attacks continued. I personally think this is a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" but would be curious what others think the proper respnose would be that would have successfully warded off future attacks.

Driving through my neck of the woods and then neighboring states. I'm shocked at the display of wealth size of homes. New construction thats taken place. Why the heck do we need this rebate?

White collar jobs lost? Folks can't work? If this ends up being a debt our children inherit..what a shame.

If I get a check. I'm enrolling in Spanish for the US consumer. Freaking challenging when you get into a communication barrier ordering at the NAPA counter. I'm learning to say 7.3Liter in Spanish, oil filter, fuel filter, air filter etc. Last week it was a ham club. Did not know I ordered that it was good and a change of pace and it came with fries. Never new they even sold fries at the deli.

Whatever happened to that bridge to Nowhere, Alaska?

What would have been a proper response to 911?
War in Afghanistan.Never did see any reason for Iraq.Maybe we need to have our own war right in our country here, amongst ourselves, and then decide who we want to have a war with.Mexico is high on my list, then maybe Israel if they dont let up some.
A lot of this is that there is not much way to tell who is the enemy. If they want to have a war they need to define who it is we are going to fight. What win or loose means. There needs to be a lot more communication instead of lies.As a matter of fact, the people supposedly running this country dont even act like they are from this country. Its like we have Europeans running our country like before the American Revolution. They want to tax you,but then use it to line their pockets, and not represent America, except this time the "country"is a corporation instead.
You dont have to be smart to see whats going on.It probly wouldnt take much to stop it.Just find out who is voting against the country and for the corporation and throw them out, along with the bunch that claim they dont have to abide by any law,as the ones running things now do.Run the lobbiests out of WashingtonDC and keep them out with the military. After all that,we wont be in as much trouble. We might find out the biggest problem we need to take care of is right here in our own country.
I know this, sitting around saying that its something to argue about is not going to make it better. The thing is the crooks count on us arguing about it,and fighting each other, instead of them.We can all fairly well see who the crooks are,its just dont fight over who are the crooks, but what do we do about them?

Porper response would have been to seal the Afganistan/Pakistan border, got Bin Laden, rebuilt Afganistan by burning all poppy fields, teaching them to farm, drill water wells, etc. We could have been sucessful by only concentrating on Afganistan, USA would have made a huge Bush statue and praised him. BUT, he went after ole Sadom to finish up his ole daddy's mess from Desert Storm. Sadom had absolutely NOTHING to do with 911, and Bush and Chaney knew it. 16 of 18 911 guys were from Saudi, and we didn't even slap them on the wrist, WHY, because ole man Bush still is on their payroll as an "energy marketing consultant". Tom

Right on. You got it right. Our local public hospital, John Petersmith, in Fort Worth is losing over 7 million dollars per year on the emergency room operation becsuse of illegal aliens using it as their primary care facility. Under USA law you cannot refuse to seen anyone who presents themselves to an emergency room and says they are in pain. The illegals (really criminals) just sit there and wait up to 20 hours to see a doctor. They pay nothing for their snotty nosed kids. All on us taxpayers. Smaller hospitals just close their emergency rooms, but the main county public hospital must keep their emergency room open by law. This cheap labor is a joke, we are paying dearly for it in every way.
My brother worked in Houston for a survey company. One Mexican fellow had 3 social security cards, 3 Texas driver licenses, 3 photo IDs, filed 3 fedral income tax returns, got all taxes back on all 3, sent kids to public shcools, took special Spanish language classes, got free breakfasts, shared rent in a subsidized building with 4 other families, paid no property taxes. They can buy any card they need from other criminals. We, as American citizens, just dont seem to have the grit to clean up our own country. AND here we think we can rebuild Irackq (sp). Tom

Not saying it is good or bad, but how soon some forget that is supported on both sides of the aisle, and each will try to work it to their advantage.

It wasn,t Iraq Sadam was bad but people are worse off now. Should have stayed in afaganstin and finished not go on to an endless war

Thought I was in the wrong forum for a second. Never heard of tax rebate brand tools. Have to try some where do you get them.

I think there is some credibilty to oil being at the bottom of this, albeit not necessarily Iraqi oil. Poses the next question "would we not be better off pressing for energy independence in a rather short order? We have more than adequate resources with natural gas, coal, hydro, oil, and nuclear. We just find ways not to develop any system. If we truly were energy independent, I agree, this whole thing may have a differenct complexion.

I want to buy a new 14" cabinate saw for my shop using my rebate for part of it. What is a good brand made in the USA?

In my opinion the rebates are like nose candy. Quick fixes are worthless.

Small local paper said this money is a cash advance on future tax refund. If you accept it and have no refund coming you will have to pay it back. Sounds like true to me. All ready I see on TV the amounts have been reduced to $500 single and $1000 joint.

First; We should cut off ALL foreign aid to south America and Mexico until they do something to curb the flow of illegal aliens into the USA (it shouldn't take too long for them to take action when the cash flow stops) if they resist bring our troops back and fight there.

Second; the Soviet Union went broke fighting in Afghanistan and we want to follow suit in Iraq. Better home defense and quicker/harsher penalties for captured terrorists (think action like Turkey would take) telling the bleeding heart liberals to take a hike out of this country also would work.

Third; look at the new houses for sale and the price of them who can afford those and people getting adjustable rate loans and interest only loans just to be able to buy more house for curb appeal. Tax the he!! out of credit card companies and put a mandatory cap on interest rates for those accounts in place. (might drive them out of business)

This country cannot go on spending money like it's water and putting it on plastic it's getting so that a 10 year old can just about qualify for a credit card and when you get into trouble there are dozens of bankruptcy lawyers on tv just to help you out.

How long before we collapse under our own weight just like the roman empire did?

Thanks for letting me rant.
Dan
