td6 injector pump

need some help on a pump for a 61 series td6, i have fuel in the pump, and fuel in the oil pan. the crawler has been sitting for 20 some odd years, i can get it to run on gas all day, but when i try to switch it over it just dies. i don"t want to spend $1000 on a rebuilt pump, and i know parts are nearly impossible to find, anybody have a good used one for sale??

Don't be too afraid to work on those pumps yourself. It's a single plunger injector pump with a valve body that allows the injected fuel to be directed to the proper cylinders. There's a good chance the plunger may be stuck on the up position, not allowing it to return for a dose of fuel. The only thing that presents a challenge while working on those pumps is; you may need to make a tool to remove the plunger body, and, be clean, clean ,clean when putting things back together.

For these old IH machines you need to go to redpowermagazine.com and find the construction equipment forum.
The guys there can explain to you how to take the pump apart, clean it and put it back together.
Seems to me there was a rack in there that would stick some times.
While running on gas, go around and one at a time, loosen the fuel fittings and make shure you get fuel out of them then re tighten. On our TD-9 we some times had to "burp" one of the lines between the transfer pump and the injection pump.

the one pump shop i went to told me i needed special tools to take it apart, i have had all of the covers off, and got the cam freed up inside, but still no fuel to the injectors, i even tried cracking the lines while running on gas, still nothing. taking it apart is one thing, finding parts for it will be another thing from what i have gathered. fuel that has been inside the pump for the last 25yrs is hard on seals and gaskets. thanks for the help, keep it coming

anybody out there know where I can get parts/seals/gaskets for this machine? My pump is leaking into the cam body. Can I make my own gaskets? Thanks for listening, most everything I have read answers all my questions.
