On the valve cover to the intake hose should there be a hole in the intake were it threads in.Mine does not have a hole and look's like it was never there? I know there is a reason the pipe is there and seem's like there should be a hole.

Yep there should be air passage someone must have lost the bolt and put in whatever they had. Don't no where you can get one

Some of the earlier engines had a valve in that banjo bolt to prevent too much air being drawn in and making the mixture too weak. On later engines this was in the manifold where the breather pipe attaches. There needs to be this valve for the engine to run properly. It is a washer with a small hole that restricts the air flow and through the middle of the hole it has a pin (use a cotter pin) which will move around and keep the hole clear. The reason that they have used a solid bolt is that they have sheared off the correct one, using too much force. Because they are hollow they don"t need much pressure on them. If you need more information about this breather valve, email me and I can send it to you with a couple of picture that show the various types that have been used...John(UK)[email protected]

What I forgot to say just now was, if you cannot locate the correct bolt, you can grind off one side of the present bolt, so it puts a flat down one side. This will allow some air to flow though and it will ventilate the crankcase as it is supposed to do.It will get you out of immediate trouble with this problem. You should also check the pipe that runs from the Block at the back of the Carburettor and up to the Air Cleaner. Make sure that the hoses and clips are all in good condition making a proper seal on the hoses. This too is part of the Crankcase ventilation and helps with valves and upper cylinder lubrication....John(UK)

I have the metal pipe that attaches to the valve cover with the correct bolt, and goes to the intake and threads in. It's the were it bolt's to the intake that there is no hole.I'm thinking that I need to drill the intake to open it up.

Also having a oil pressure issue. When I aquired the tractor it was pretty well used and abused. There was low oil pressure (10lbs start 0 running)so I replaced the filter, gauge and changed the oil. When I started it, it was at 40lbs for about 5 minutes and then went to almost 60lbs and now i'm back to 0lbs.Pressure valve sticking?
