Temp Gauge MF 135

I have a MF 135 w/ a serial number that starts out sdm 641****** that I am trying to buy a new temp gauge for. I have bought two over the internet that are suppose to fit but both of them have been to big to screw into the block. Does anyone know which one I need and where to buy it?

Looking at my parts book, the gauge depends on the vintage and the engine maker. Perkins gas and diesel used the same gauges. Continental a different one. Though it says for replacing the older gauge order the newer one and a lighting kit. And for the gas engine, the Special used a different gauge than the Deluxe.

The parts book gives no hint about the probe mounting dimensions.

The Perkins engines get a 194 428 M91 originally to be replaced by the later 528 427 M91 and a light bulb lighting kit. I think they gave up on the original electroluminescent gauge lighting.

The Continental gas used a 194 319 M91 in the Deluxe and Vinyard which is replaced by a 528 430 M91 and lighting kit. The Special (probably no lighting originally) gets a 506 905 M91.

I have had the same problem with my TE-20. Did you get one of the Agco Heritage line temp gauges? That is what I got and the block screw is a smige to big.

Mine is so close I think I can just retap the hole to the correct size.. corse haveing a close friend who is a machinest helps.

Hey Wesley, go to your local hardware store and purchase some pipe plugs. Get a 1/4,and a 3/8. The thermostat is threaded with NPT so this should give you an idea on what it is. Take this size to your local parts store (Napa) and they will set you up. My gauges are VDO sold by Napa. HTH Aaron
