Temperature gauge on my TO-20

Got a temp gauge on my TO-20. Took it out and raked my sand driveway after the rains we had. Tractor runs on the cool side after installing new water pump, hoses and new thermostat. No thermostat in it when I bought it. I feel it stays cooler now with a thermostat.

Looks good. Youre right about the operating temperature. Having a thermostat installed makes the system run properly. Well done.

I was always told that a thermostat's function was also to slow the flow of coolant to allow the radiator extra time to take the heat from the liquid before entering back into the engine, thus reducing temp.
at the gauge. So your lower reading makes sense.
