They got me also on the fuel bowl/filter on a ford 3000. They installed the line nuts wrong (inlet and outlet have different line nuts) while breaking the lock tight lose I broke it. Its going back I am sure the new one will be wrong also I will take care not to break it this time.

Yours like mine there is a boat load of'em out there.

I hope you don't mind if I give my $.02.

I do my best not to buy Chinese crap (it ain't easy). Couple weeks ago I bought Autolite spark plugs for my 8N from Tractor Supply. It was a 4 pack and the clam shell read "Made in Mexico". That's tolerable as many good automotive parts have come from Mexico.
When I went to install the spark plugs, I noticed that the individual inner boxes all read "Made in China". Tractor Supply got the spark plugs back and I got a refund.

I can't find any Made in USA spark plugs. I haven't installed them yet but I settled for a "Made in Japan" set of NGK spark plugs.

I refuse to discuss politics but the Made in China (and India) crap is killing me!!

Take care.

(quoted from post at 19:20:11 07/05/22) Actually, a lot of NGK plugs ARE made in the
USA. Sissonville, West Virginia

I know. And I would have bought them if that's what I could find. NGK also makes spark plugs in China, which I would not have bought.

Autolite will tell you that the spark plug was made in China but it was made to their specs. It simple ain't true. I've learned the hard way.

They are the BEST plugs in my book,I have used them for years, also look good and don't rust away.

Bought some Champion plugs a few years ago for a V8 Chevy 350 and two out of eight plugs never had any threads on them.

Funny thing about Chinese crap ...
Everyone complaining about it is using
a Chinese computer or cell phone....
Impossible to avoid, my 2 cents worth.
And sometimes the made in America stuff
is crap too. Americans have very little
pride in their work now days. Sadly

The Chinese can build things good or cheap but not both. Usually it's American companies that contract to the Chinese manufacturer and if the part is junk it's the American company's QC or specs that make the bad part not the manufacturer. We seem to be able to build crap here just as well as the Chinese.

The experience at my employer is that if a large enough company sets the requirements and then enforces them, suppliers from pretty much anywhere can supply quality parts.

The likely problem with antique tractor parts is that the companies spec'ing and buying the parts don't have big enough orders to be able to enforce quality standards.

As for spark plugs? I would think that those are large enough orders to get attention from suppliers IF the company ordering them cares about quality. How many companies put price above all else?

To be fair, how many consumers put price above all else?

Indeed. There's no wonder that we see poor quality in some industries.
