The DC is fixed

Worked on the DC some Friday evening and yesterday and got it all back together. The broken chain was just the start of course, what project doesn't get bigger once it's started. I replaced the oil slinger gear since it was flaking apart.

The bearing on the front of the pto shaft was bad so put a new one on it. Then decided to look at the hydraulic pump since it was getting weak. I had a different pump from an earlier model and I was going to just put that pump on, bit found the housing wore.

So that meant another trip to the salvage yard for another pump. Then a trip to town7 for a new temp gage and a line for the oil pressure gage, and everything is all together.

I changed the engine oil as well, so all new oil in it. The engine oil was milky again as it always is in the spring. Every winter I watch it for turning milky, but it never showes up til it gets warm. Was extra milky this year, likely because I used it more this winter. I flushed some diesel down through it that got a lot out.

Everything works as it should now and the loader lifts good again too.

Tractor tucker, that snap ring was a real pain! Looks like you should be able to get it out through the access hole, but I had to split the tractor to do it. What a massive pain for such a small thing. Lol.

You are really fortunate, Jon, to find a hydraulic pump that is not badly scored. So many were run low on oil and ruined. Some of the early 30 series had bronze wear plates that could be replaced. I repaired several 25 or 30 years ago by having a machine shop resurface the housing faces and installing those wear plates, having struck out finding a decent one in a wrecking yard. The small reservoir on those early hydraulic systems required the operator to be diligent on checking the fluid level! How is the Kubota power plant in the Case skid steer working?

The Kubota is working great. Now I have to get the drive pump and hydraulic pump repaired. Now that the engine runs enough to get the oil warm the weak pumps show up.

On my DC, I was able to get the snap ring out throught the clutch inspection hole. After all the time I spent fooling with it, it might have been faster to split it. I ended up buying 2 or 3 different snap ring pliers before I found one with just the right angle to work.

I had straight and 90 deg. And bent one to about 45, but none worked. Only tool about 15 minutes to split it because I already had the gas tank and cover off. So not too bad.
