The new 6 volt Generators

Has anyone ever bought one of the New generators I have
seen floating around on the web? They are 100% new not
rebuilt single wire gen for the 9 and 2ns. Anyone have any
luck with them?

How much are they?
It doesn't matter.
If you have charging problems such that you're considering a new generator you'd be way ahead money wise and reliability wise to install a 10si on it and be done with it.

I haven't dealt with any 'new' generators -I always just rebuild my old ones. I have a newly rebuilt 2N10000-C generator, complete with tensioning bracket for sale. The early, early 9N generator was a 2-wire/two-brush type and used a real, square can Voltage Regulator. Late '39 saw the release of the 9N-10000-B generator which had one-wire and three brushes with a HI-LO slider button on back end plate for third brush adjustment. The VR was replaced with the round-can cutout as well. The release of the 9N10000-C generator was one-wire three brushes but h slider button was replaced with an actual potentiometer adjustable with coin or screwdriver. The early 8N went to a three brush, three wire generator. So, any 'new' model will have to be more specific on what it is. Most are the one-wire type. I wouldn't agree on adding an electronic ignition to cure any issues. You probably have other issues going on that are contributing to your charging problems.

I have no experience with new aftermarket generators but can attest that new aftermarket starters are not built to the same standards as are the OEM units.

Rebuild your OEM generator if you can.

I just picked up a new one from DB elctrical ordered it online works great since the old one had nothing left in side the windings were brunt up.I think it was around $80. dbelectrical.com

I have 2 generators one just rebuilt for a $110. and the other has no place for the tension tab I guess it takes a band or sorts, I no longer need either I went 12 volts make me an offer

i've tried the new ?indian? gennies that replace the lucas on the 65+ models. but any other genny I had if it needed it.. it got rebuilt vs repalced. 80$ if I send it to the local guy.. or cheaper if it just needs bench work I can do at home..

Thanks! Those were the ones I was checking out. I have a couple gens here that are completely gone. It is probably cheaper to try a new one since it is always a little over $100 to have them fixed.

Here is the thing though. If you have a armature that is gone and you get a new one they probably come from China along with all the other parts that are made for our tractors. So if you rebuild it the only thing that is original is the housing. So really what would I be saving?

Had this gen for a while. was working fine, but the armature burned up.. I don't think the new armature would be of any quality if I would buy one.

Hi Jason-
The only difference between the 9N10000-C generator and the 2N10000 generator is that the 2N model had two 1/4-28 tapped holes to accept the newly introduced Tensioning Bracket Kit available from dealers. Everything else was virtually the same.

If you have any old 9N/2N generators you don't want, email me and we'll discuss a transaction. I am in need of the 9N-B generator with the HI-LO slider button on rear end plate OR, the 9N-A small generator, 2-brush/2-wire model.
