Chains are off my H and "just barely reached".

Weights are off my 966; mounting bracket is off the 1066.

Fought those silly weights all afternoon. Bet I wrestled the goofy 100 lb things 7 or 8 times off and on, right and wrong, works doesn't work.

I'm tired and the muscles are screamin' at me. :>)

Look at it this way, Allan....tomorrow countless guys will plunk down good dollars for a gym membership( you know..those New Years's resolutions to get in shape, pump some iron, "abs of steel" etc) and you got a better workout for nothing. And now that you know how to do it, you could wrestle them on and back on before breakfast every morning all month!!!LOL.

Allan that"s some serious looking snow you have. I don"t want to make you feel bad but we only have a few inches here at the foot of the Missions in Western Montana and today was sunny and the high was 29F.
Glad to see you got yourself set up to feed in all the snow. If you think those weights were heavy, movin" those big bales without the tractor would give Superman a hernia!

Nice outfit ALLAN ,Like that heated cab ! However , I will second That 4 wheel drive Idea ,,,Had it here for over 20 years on tractors less than 25 horse , I can feed 4x5 rond bales with it too , Shucks You can go padding across a soft wheatfeild and nary make a track with the light weight tractor ,, Not to mention running thru the Mire of the feed lot.

on the first pic just to the right side on the snow bank my wife said "did he cover his dog?" when I looked I was laughing that is one heck of a snow sculpture you did with the tractor bucket I bet you never got out to do it. Maybe your calling so you can give up farming lol.

Got to thinkin' 'bout what you had said and those pictures that Cliff had put up of his shop-manufactured outfit. Thought to myself, "Yeah, why the heck not?" :>)

Fought those heavy weights all afternoon.

Finally, gave up, mounted all the weights on the factory bracket and bolted 'em to it by using the cinch bar just as if it were on the front of the tractor.

Then I ran that aftermarket "hitch bar" thru the handles just like you said and hooked her to the lower arms. Works pretty slick with that bracket underneith.

I can stand it on a chunk of old railroad tie to park/hook/unhook it.

Got about 1200 lbs and with the existing wheel weights, I think I'm pretty darned close to 1500 lbs all together.

well i ain't got any fancy IH front weight brackets cuz i don't own a 1066 ect. but i have IH weights. what i do when i put the "hitch bar" through the handles is if there is a hole left in the outside, i put a bolt through, or i clamp a vise grips on as tight as i can. works fina as long as ya don't get too rough with the weights. but you did good.

My JD 630 with Dual loader has had a 1300 lb cement weight hanging on the 3pt for more years than I can remember ,plus 300 lb in each wheel. She runs out of power before the traction lets go with no chains in any gear except granny unless it's on ice. I call it a "Poor man's front assist". Another important benefit to having those weights back there is the stability of the tractor is a lot better. We could drive through the cattle yard with a round bale up high, rocking back and forth and the tractor never felt tippy.Jim

Nah! we may have had 3 ft total over the last 2 months but not on the ground today. Seeley Lake on the other side of the Missions is a different story though. They probably have that much.

Just a quick question; How come the wheel weights have a better paint job than the cab? I guess you've got more work to do. Otherwise the tractor police will make you take the cab off as you must not appreciate it enough. LoL. Dave
