Been searching for a thermostat and came across both a 160 degree and 180 degree from various suppliers. Which one is correct?

Brent, the owners manual says: it begins to open at 157* F. to 162* F. and is fully open at 185* F. to 195* F. I know that is not answering your question but the best I can do at this time. Richard

I like the cooler ones. I use my tractors more in the summer and I just feel better having the cooler ones. Pretty much just up to you.

The cool ones are not good for the engine. Especially with little engine use, they keep from getting the engine hot enough to boil water out of the oil. And so encourage the creation of sludge. Besides which the engine is more efficient at the higher temperature because less combustion energy is lost to the cooling system.

If I had to guess I would say 160 and 180 are the opening temps this site sells the 160 one. Im not sure I would want one that begins to open at 180 it might not fully open at the right time.
