Hello to all,
I received my carb-rebuild kit from Roberts, and I'm going out this weekend to try starting her.
You guys have graciously responded to all my emails re diff things I need to do, but I wanted to consolidate them all and see if I got the entire list of things to do for my 1951 MT. She's been sitt'in for 2-3 yrs, carb was dried-up, but she was in shed w a tarp over her the whole time and battery pulled.
Here's my list and pls let me know if you care to add anymore:
1.Instead of changing oil, go to pan and loosen drain plug and see if any water comes out - drain as needed.
2.After rebuilding carb, I will follow the op's manual on the upper idle needle, but I took out the load adjusting needle and would appreciate anyone's take on one installed and the needle all the way in, how many revolutions I need to backout to get her right? She was running like a top before she went idle,,,,
3.Replace air-bath oil - make sure intake vent at top and shaft is free of clutter, dauber nests, etc
4.Hit w a drop or two of oil per maintenance/operations manual
5.pull a dollar bill thru the points
6.make sure s-plug wires and disb wires are all tight and snug before cranking her to start
7.drain all existing gas and replace w new
8.I'm going to get a Deere 6V battery [not chancing the old one]
9.top off radiator w premixed distilled and conc-anti-freeze in a 50-50 water/a-freeze ratio
10.take out s-plugs and crank her a bit to toss out any water or other?
11.someone made a comment about the valves, but I cannot remember what it was??
12.Anything else you can think-of ?????
Once I perform the above and any other pertinent additions, after I try cranking her, I will provide you w the results.
I'm looking forward to getting back on the boards and get this show on the road...she's been idle toooooo long.
Thank you very much guys,
tstex
