thinking of trying something

should work ,, i would bet i could tinker my 1968 mf 300 into delivering a good seed sample ,, anyone that knows and understands their machine well can make them do the job

well in my thinking it would be no different than cutting milo, only thing is you would run the header up high to take as little green material thru as necessary?
I just now this it would be worth a try and I'm going to give it a shot this year if nothing happens

We had a neighbor who planted cane sorghum for his cattle and he would combine some of it for seed. No different than doing milo other than he had the header as high as it would go and still took in quite a bit of stalk. The only sudan I ever saw as hybrid though. You have sudan that is non-hybrid?

I think that sudan seed would be quite a bit lighter than milo so you would have to adjust your combine accordingly or you would probably blow a lot of seed out the back. Wouldn't worry about getting the seed real clean as most seed is run through a seed cleaner before planting. Like was pointed out in an earlier post, if it is a hybrid, the seed wouldn't be good for replanting. Not an expert on that stuff but that was what we were always told. I remember threshing sudan that was bundled through a threshing machine. I think that was the last time we used that old Case thresher.
