Tie rods - 1850

Neighbor borrowed my 1850 to grade his road. Dropped the left front tire into the ditch and broke the tie rod. Darn the luck...

Any tricks to this repair?

Ever dance with a pigeon toed girl? lol.

Can't make out from the picture what happened. Did it pull the ball out of the socket on the tie rod end or what? Agparts First has new ones,I think Korves has 'em too. If the ball's out of the socket and you want to fix it "for now", knock the ball out of the arm, clean out the socket, take the rubber boot off. Now put the ball in,put a big washer over it and weld the washer to the socket from the bottom side. Let it cool, put the boot on,grease it and put it back together.

Not is she pigeon toed, looks like she's got 3 eyes too!

If ya got a ball joint separator that's the easiest way to get the old tie rod end out. If it's got the later style tierod that is bigger and is what they used on the 55 series, you can get just the peice you want. Otherwise you can just buy the whole thing from the Agco dealer.

Been through tierods on our 1755 while plowing more than once. Our 165 just got new ones this summer too.
