Tillage tractor recommendations

A 560 Farmall or 1600 Oliver would be more than enough tractor for what you describe doing with it. gm
They would but think later model like the 666/686 or 1655 would be more user/driver friendly. 1655 might be the better fit with the lower 1st gear.

I like the d312 over the d283

Yep was thinking about a 1655. Got enough power and weight for the tillage and they do go slow enough for the transplanter. It’s about the same as the IH 686 but with a slower gear.

Will come down to what’s available when they finally pull the trigger.

Now they have a 35 hp newer 4x4 john deer 4000 series that seems to be constantly broken. Two months ago it was at the dealer for a month and a half for something that should have been done in less than a week. Now it has broken frame bolts.
Yeah don't even consider another newer JD if you have to turn aside in the seat to watch implement. I bought a new 5067 and the more I use it the more I hate it. The shift levers on each side of the seat don't allow you to turn your body and at my age I can no longer turn my neck that far. And if you have much road travel the only go 15.1 mph. As soon as I can see fit I'm trading that thing off. Only has 350 hours on it and it has been trouble free but I hate that tractor.
