working on a AC 1950 B Someone put a standard mag on it but it is running on 2 cyl. 3&4 can someone explain how to get it timed thank you

Remember firing order is 1-2-4-3

what do you mean by "standard mag"? If it runs, it can't be much out of time.
Did you check spark plugs and wires. You could have a bad plug or bad wires. Wires must be solid wire not carbon as used on the newer autos.

It is not a factory mag the Brand name is Standard

Standard never ever heard of such a company that made a mag. A picture would maybe help since it could be a copy of say a fair banks etc. If t is a copy then a book from one of the fair banks may help you and I have manuals for both of the common one and if you think that would help drop me an e-mail and I can send you one or both of them

Swap plug wires 1 and 2.

There was a company, back a few years, that sold
points, condensers, distributor caps, under
the name "Standard Ignition"
The company "Standard Magneto" purchased the
assets and patents of Wico, Fairbanks-Morse,
Case/Slick, and still makes magneto parts, but
i've never seen them make replacement parts with
the standard name, since they now own the other
brand names.
