A few days ago someone asked about source of tire irons. I just picked up a pair at Harbor Freight for about $6 ea. They are 24" long, forged.

napa can also get spoons. i got a heavy duty set for truck tires, work pretty good, if i remember they were about 50 dollars or so.

To short to work well on much more then say a 16 inch tire maybe a little big bigger if they are newer and still soft.
The set I have are 3 foot long each set of 2. Yep I just walked out to the shop and measured them. I have had them for 15 plus years and have yet to bend one or have any trouble doing a tire yet

Mine are older KEN TOOL tire tools, picked them up at auctions, ans swap meets over the years. Try not to use them much anymore.

Mine has a blade about six inches long with teeth and it goes back and forth very fast. gets them off in no time. Just finish up with a chisel

Yeah, I shoulda put LOL after that. Thats my sawzall for removing junk tires that are rusted to the rim

I bought one of the HF irons on sale a while back and was pleased to find it covered by the HF warranty. Got it replaced without hassle. (End snapped off the first time I used it.) What I"ve used for years with success is short to medium leaf springs out of old cars. They"re tough as you"ll ever need. I also have several others, brand unknown, but old enough that quality was still in existence when they were made in USA.

I bought a set from harbor freight that the spoons just bent when i tried to use them. Fired up the rosebud and heated the spoons to about a cherry red and quenched them in oil. They don't bend anymore but may snap off one day.

All the professional truck tire shops I know use Ken-Tool irons. They stand up to the every day use, the cheap ones bend

I saw it mentioned a few posts up... piece of old leaf spring.. Friend on mine has a piece that's quite narrow.. roughly a foot long.. works good for car/pickup tires.. rounded a bit on the tip..

The cheap Harbor Freight ones.. Eh, I have 2 of those.. good for things like snowmobile trailer tires, lawnmower, stuff like that.. or if it isn't something you'll use often.. (I'm probably one of the very few who won't complain much about the cheap stuff from Harbor Freight.. I know it's cheap stuff, and you get what you pay for.. but if it's something I might use one or 2 times a year, and on a limited budget, it can be hard to justify the better quality..)

In the family farm shop, there's a set of 12-14 inchers for light duty, and some that are about 36" for tractor/big truck tires. As best as I can recall, both sets came from NAPA, and have served well for quite a few years now..

Still the easiest way is to take the tires to town.. (but surely not the cheapest way.. ) LOL
