tire question

Hi guy's ,i've got an oppertunity to pick up a 13.6 28 tire and new rim/tube for a good price,well $400 ,just so happens one of mine is weeping calcuim around the stem,rims getting pretty rusted up ,so, found this "deal"..My Qeustion is this tire is bout half worn ,my tires are bout 3/4 worn,I keep my ice chains on all year round,,so I thought i heard not to run uneven tires,is that true ,should I be going out and getting two with the same wear..Only one used one available.,,

Quich solution. Change the old tire to new rim.

There is no reason to worry. THe difference in rolling diameter will mean absolutely nothing to any wear on the differential. Think of plowing with one wheel gripping well in the furrow, and the other doing most of the slipping on the surface. No one considers that to be a problem, and it is not. On a car, Especially with limited slip differential, and the high speed handling of an interstate to contend with, sure. But tread wear is usually not considered even there. Go for it. JimN

I would agree with Jim. There is probably more difference in diameter between brands and by running chains and air pressure than what you are looking at.

Phil, Don't give it a second thought. Just make sure the wheel you're buying is in better shape than the one you've got. I think you could pick up a new wheel from Nova for about 300 bucks... and I woldn't want to give much more than a hundred for a half worn tire... Might not hurt ya to give Adrian or Sherman a shout down there and see what they want.
I installed an A&I wheel (that size) for a guy this spring and I think it was under 300 for the wheel. I wasn't too impressed with the quality of the wheel since it wasn't rolled quite 'round', but I did finally get it on the center. It's working OK now for him, so that might be something to consider...

Sounds like a high price for that tire I bought 2 used 12.4 by 38 tires mounted at the dealers for $301 both with about 3/4 tread.

that's no deal just put on two new Firestone's 6 ply 23 degree tires were 220.00 each rims were 110.00 each tubes 32.00 each 362.00 total sure ain't no deal

sorry my tires were 12.4-28 but even at that thats still over priced my rims were 11 in. yours might be 12 in. so add 10.00 to the rim

I know our Canadian Dollar is par now ,butmost stuff still costs more up here..But thanks,I'll probably try and beat the guy down some on the price ,thanks
