Hi I just bought an 8n and it needs back tires they have 11-28 or 9.00 28 is this the original size for this ? I like the height of the tire but they are kind of narrow i have seen some with wider tires and it realy sets the tracktor off to make it look tuff. Can any one help me with this? what different sizes would work? or should i just get the same size ? thank You Jason

11.2X28 is the standard size for the 8N. Some guys prefer the bigger 12.4X28 or even the 13.6X28s. If you go to the bigger tire sizes you lose a little power the bigger you go. Usually the larger the tire, the larger the price too. I prefer the looks of the 11.2X28s but that's just my preference. Your tractor, your call.

I would absolutely run 12.4x28 rears on this tractor. I have a '46 2N with the split manifold and a Sherman step-up and tires this size on it give me the optimum effeciency that this tractor can produce. I have them loaded with calcium solution and a 135 pound wheel weight on each rear wheel. Tractor has plenty of power as well as traction.

Go to "Tractor Photos" on this website and type in Mr. Bob. There are two pics of my tractor. One pic shows it hooked up to the typical size load of wood that I haul. No wheel weights in this pic. Second more recent pic shows it sitting in garage after I put the wheel weights on it.

It takes a strong runner to pull loaded 12.4x28 ,,, looks don't always git'er done,,, your call,, if the engine is not up to par your next move will B to git it up to par are struggle with 12.4x28,,, I like the smaller tire but have to run what I have in the spare parts pile,,, 12.4x28 must B rite popular cuzz thats what I have the most of,,,, Iffin I were to go New it would B 11-28 ,,, fudge looks I like to git down and dirty and spin'em,,, not stall'em,,, if you don't plan to load'em it mite not make that much difference,,, werk'in tractors need loaded tires,,, course that would depend on the werk it has to do,,, by werk'in,,,, pull'n a turn'n plow then a disc threw loose dirt,,, so how do you use the tractor????

Mostly just brush hoging . See that is the only falt i find with the old ford tractors is thay have good power but they did not build them heavy enough so if your useing something other than the little 3point hitch you wont be able to getter done vary well !!! butt i still love them and Henry ford was good friends with my grate uncle
