TO 30 not runnin'

I am sure i have checked everything possible but may have left something out. I cleaned the carb, new points, condenser and rotter cap. New spark plugs and wires. Checked the sediment bowl and have plenty of gas running out the bottom plug of the carb. Good spark with the test. Will run at low RPM's in 1st gear but as you put it into High range will cut out and die. Everything seems to check out! What am I missing?

Try closing the point gap up a little. If the distributer is worn the points may not be closing as you increase the RPMs. I have had that happen before.

Had that happen to a friend before with a 9N so I just got an EI for my TO30 and no more points/condenser to worry about. EBay has them about 109.00.

How did you check the spark? Was it FAT AND BLUISH-WHITE the color of lighning? Put a timing light on it and see if the centrifugal advance is working. Make sure that the main jet is adjusted correctly 1-1/4 turns out as a baseline.

this sounds like a typical weak spark problem. See Jerry's comments. A yellow spark is no good, you need the requisite fat bluish white spark. What s. plugs are you using? Regular copper core plug wires, not resistor wires, are best. If your spark checks out, check your timing and power adjust screw on the carb.

Took the non resister wire out of the middle of the cap and held it close to ground as I turned it over. Big bluish spark! I will check the timing after work tonight. Thanks for your help.

Have you tried opening the main jet a little on the carburetor. Try about 1/8 of a turn anti-clock see if it is any better. Don't overdo it though as you can waste fuel. You can try it by opening the throttle quickly, it should speed up without spluttering, if it splutters it needs more fuel, so try opening it up.....John
PS usual cause is someone playing with the settings without you knowing.

Spark plug wires are in the wrong order I can almost garentee it. Same thing happened to me and I had an old tractor guy come over I could not figure it out for the life of me. With the tractor running at idle he pulled 2 leads off at a time and and moved them over the distrbuter holes the spark will jump 1inch easy into the distributor cap. But you could hear when he had them right it just reved right up. My problem was I thought thta the distrbutor ran in the oposite direction I put the plug wires in so 2 of them were in the wrong place. This sounds alot like your issue. It will idle but will not run full thorottle. Open the distributor and crank over the engine wath the direction it rotates then plug your wires accordingly.
