TO-30 temp. gauge

My to-30 had no temp. gauge. There is a place on the dash that is still plugged. Questions: Can I put a temp. gauge on the tractor and if so, where does it go into the motor? Does anyone have a "strap" to mount an alternator? My strap broke when I tried to remove it. It has been welded and rewelded. It has no slot to make adjustment. Any help with a new one would be appreciated.

Here is a picture of the water neck. It is in front of the fuel tank and is where the upper radiator hose attaches too.

The small port on the right side of the picture(left side of part/tractor) is where the temp gauge probe goes.

Try to get one with a short wire (48") as the 72" leads will need to be wrapped around and around and around to take up the excess length.

Jeff, Thanks so much for the information. I will order a temp. gauge as well as oil pressure and amp. gauge from this site. In addition to the alternator bracket, I now find that I need the radiator support rod on page 27, item #44 in the parts book. Any help with these items would be appreciated. Thanks again Randy

I made a an adjustable alternator support arm from a piece of 1/4" plate that I cut into an "S" shape with a torch. I then cut the adjustment slot in the support arm with my torch and used a file and grinder to clean it up. Ypu could also just replicate the damaged support arm from a piece of 3/16"-1/4" thick steel stock.

I too have a to-30 with a non functioning temp gauge- How can i determine if it is the gauge or probe and what are the part numbers for same?
thanks
Mike

Mike, the gages and probe and connecting cable are integrated as one. If one is bad you have to replace the whole thing. Lots of suppliers have them, this site, Stevens, Steiner, and many others, as well as the MF dealers (AGCO). So to answer your question, the real answer is it doesn't matter. You don't really care if it's the probe or gage that is bad. If it doesn't work, you have to replace the assembly.
