I have a 54 TO 30 that I got about three months ago. When I got the tractor it ran smoothly with no smoke but severly lacked power. So based info provided on this board I reset the governor, changed plugs and wires, changed points and codenser, and cap and button. Now the tractor is running great with plenty of power. Here comes the but. It is smoking a lot of black smoke when first started. It smokes for about 5 seconds on start up and then doesnt smoke anymore and runs great. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Sounds normal, especially if you choked it to start it. Black smoke after it settles out would not be good, though.

I would'nt worry about black smoke on startup, that is just excess fuel being burned off. Black smoke is fuel, blue smoke is oil, white smoke is water.
