may be a stupid question, but here it goes. how do you judge when your front axle needs rebuilt? I am trying to get my ferguson in the best of shape over the winter so to minumize trouble this spring.

First thing there are no stupid questions. The fact that your asking a question shows your smart.
Every joint and pivot point should be tight when you have the front end off the ground. No weight on the axle.

my axle has a bumper attached to it should i be able to move the axle much standing in front of the tractor and pushing down on the bumper? mine seems to have alot of play in it.
