TO30 will not start

i have a 1953 TO30 it is geting fire and gas but will not start turns over fine but just want start

Is the timing correct? 6°BTDc is the inital timing.

Do you have a FAT, BLUISH-WHITE SPARK the color of lightning? Point setting is 0.022"

check your spark as Jerry points out. I have seen more than one occasion where a weak, yellow spark was not sufficient to get a TO engine running, or keep it running under load. You want the bluish white spark as Jerry describes.
Check your firing order, should be 1342.
Your up-flow carb will not vaporize gas satisfactorily, and cause a no-start if the fuel bowl is overfilled due to a leaky needle valve. This is a common problem with this general design as the fuel tank sits above the carb. and gravity is continuually trying to drain gas into the carb. Make sure your fuel shut-off valve is not leaking thru. Pull the air intake hose off your carb to see if gas runs out, if yes, it is way overfilled. Drain your carb bowl (with the fuel shut-off closed), then re-install the plug, open the fuel shut-off, and try to start your tractor.

If you only have a yellowish spark, try reversing the Low tension leads on the HT Coil and you could also try shorting out the ignition switch as they do break-up inside and get bad contacts. Check HT leads into the Coil and the Distributor for that green corrrosion...John

If its still not going, open the distributor, remove the condenser,get another condenser from somewhere, and tie it against the outside metal area of the distributor, undo the lead in wire to the distributor, attach the small condenser wire and see if she starts; if yes go and buy the right condenser and fit it.

If you have gas and good spark as noted by the guys, you should chk the timing as Jerry)MT) suggested. I have found this to be the problem more than once. Starts right up when timed right. The mystery for ne is how did the timing get so far off just sitting around?? Gremlins at work I guess.
