TO35 vs 135

What is the difference between a TO 35 and a 135?Thanks, Dennis

Improvements in the hydraulic system, primarily draft and position control. More options as far as seats, fenders, lighting, and instrumentation.

Aren"t the engines different? I think the TO-35 diesel is a Standard Diesel and the 135 uses a Perkins diesel. Not sure about the gas versions. The T0-35 used the Continental Z134 I believe.

I'm sort of lumping the TO-35 and the MF35 together. The MF 35 had the Perkins diesel as well as the 135. Continental Z134 4-cylinder gas in all three until 135's finally got a Perkins 3-cylinder gas later on.

135's got updated sevceral times as time went along. (ie pressure control, alternators, ect)

Lots different tin work.

More transmission options. Bigger engines.

The Perkins diesels are different. One indirect, the other direct injection. I don't know that the TO-35 ever got a Standard gas or diesel engine, those were in earlier TE and TEA models as far as I know.

Gas engines in the 135 are larger, but two options. The Special (stripped model) used a Z-134 Continental, the Deluxe used a Z-145. The gas engine in the TO-35 was never bigger than the Z-134. Mid years of 135 production use a Perkins gas engine in place of the Continentals.

The 135 has more seat options. And probably weighs a bit more for better traction. And is as much as 20 years younger. Many more 135 had the power steering option.

I have driven both models and am not sure that each model change between the tractors was an improvement.

The gear shift levers are longer on the TO, therefore it easier to shift.

TO does not have as much power as 135, but TO has a Continental Z134 engine that was a great little engine, if well cared for. The 135 3 cyl gas Perkins seams to shake and have not heard alot good about them.

I understand both TO and 135 had Perkins diesel engines, good engines but harder to start in winter.

last model 135 diesels had almost 35-37 hp.

Remember, if you get one with Multi power, TO or 135 plan on having multi power rebuilt, about 1K.
