I didn't see the post until not but there was one point missed about ride and steering. Before power steering rough ground could really whip the steering wheel around. John Deere improved that with Roll-a-matic which allowed the 2 front wheels to tilt just a bit and therefor ride over a clod with a bit less movement of the steering wheel. Just compare the steering of a tractor with it and one without it over a rough or freshly plowed field.
