Too much help

I was in Home Depot today and there must of been 15 employees asked me if I needed help. Finally I had enough and when I was asked if they could help me find anything I said YES. I'm looking for a electric start generator, one I can plug in and not mess with the gasoline smell in the house. I'll be danged if she didn't enlist help to find one. It took them two about 10 minutes to figure it out. Geesh!

I dont know about ND but at Lowes they send shill shoppers through the stores quite often. Get caught ignoring one of them and see how long you have a job. I agree it's a pain in the neck sometimes.

Went into one years ago trying to make up something special to hold a small carbide tipped drill bit, and be able to use my air ratchet as a angle drill, to get out a couple of broken bolts that were in an almost impossible location. When the guy asked if he could help me I gave him a brief explanation of what I was trying to do.....He stood there and thought about it for split second and then said, "Well, you sound like you know what your doing, and know what you need....so I"m just going to leave you alone because I don"t have any idea...." Now how can you beat that for honesty.....LOL

A while ago when we were still using dial up for internet (maybe the only ones) we went to Best Buy looking for a modem.

In the computer section a young man approached us & said can I help U? I replied "We're looking for a modem"

He said "What's that?" I started to explain but he cut me short!

Next he was yelling across the store to another employee if he knew what a modem was!!! He also didn't know what it was!!

So much for the help he offered.

We did find one before leaving but decided to go somewhere else to buy one!

Last week I went to Home Depot, looking for some wire. The young man? that Tried to assist me was so far out in space that he could not even understand what wire is. I really hope he was Stoned, I would hate to think he is that dumb all the time.

It's either everyone wants to help you, or if you really need help, not a soul around. I don't think that it is necessarily just limited to HD. Most stores I shop at are that way. Probably the worst store in our area is Menard's. The same person will ask you 2 or 3 times if you need help.

With that mistory shopper the results are usually not felt by the one person but buy the whole store in all employes loosing what could be a nice bonus or perhaps they will loose only a part of the bonus depending on how bad things are. You do not even know who the shopper was talking to or not talking to by them not asking if they could help. And my living comes from my wife working at Lowes for around 14 years. And My wife has run the Pluming, electric, paint and home decore departments as well as sell appliances.

What bonus for the Lowes employees? They only give Corvettes to the store managers. . . Called a mandatory meeting on my day off (Sunday a.m.) to tell me that back in '99.

And that was somehow supposed to motivate us.
