Can someone tell me what the torque settings on a JD A are...
Main Bearing Caps
Connecting Rod Caps
Cylinder Head Bolts

Thanks for the help,
Jeff

Check in with the JD-H Restoration Site (below). Scan across to ARTICLES 2, and from the drop-downs, select TORQUE VALUES.

For fasteners not called out in that TORQUE VALUES chart, consult "Standard Torque Values" as a search item either on this site or by Google. It is always wise to limit the amount of torque applied by bolt size so that the fastener is not damaged. (PatB)

Repair manuals are about $20, I've played mechanic 40 + years and wouldn't tackle an overhaul or repair without a manual at hand. Do you know about the lead washers? Did you plastigage the clearances, how many shims did you take out ? An A weighs about 4500 pounds, I'll give you $273 a ton when you've finished your repairs.

Gary, I actually have a book on the A, however; the 2 pages that have all the specs on them have been torn from my book. Me and a friend are actually Restoring this tractor. I am on my 15th rebuild and he is a diesel mechanic. Trust me this tractor will be right. Much more valuable than the $273/ton that you are offering.

Apologies are in order, but look back on the various boards at the number of newbies who post asking for specs/info, they buy an older tractor, tear it apart and can't figure out why it won't go together or work like it did before they "fixed" it.
