Tough Case cab

I don't know much technical information about Case tractors but I saw one today give a very valiant fight at our local scrap yard. It had been stripted of a lot of sheet metal,radiator and front end suspension but cab and engine,transmission,rear end including tires were still intact.The owner was wanting to save rear tires and rims,they had removed wheel studs but apparently the rust had welded the cast hubs and rims solid. The crane with claw grabbed the top of the cab and preceeded to toss the entire unit around like a Mexican Pinata. After dropping the entire unit several times they were successful breaking the rust welds but the cab stayed secure throughout. This was not an extremely old tractor, maybe an early CaseIH model. I think Case was early in building intigrated cabs on tractors and this one died valiantly.

In 1970 when they first came out, our neighbor bought a 1070 with the cab. One evening his son and 2 friends were driving it down the road when they were hit from behind by a drunk in a car. They said the car was doing 70 mph. It flipped the tractor end over end, but the kids were only slighly injured. The case company gave the neighbor a new tractor so they could take his back to the factory and check it out. The tractor was a mess, one rear wheel missing ect., but the cab only had 1 broken window and some dents.

yeah Agreed CASE IS DAMTUF,, But agreed J.S. very Sad to hear,, But that is What this country has come to when you put a price on EVERTHING and a VALUE on Nothing... ONLY A FOOL SELLS HIS TOOLS ,, And AMERICA started doing that and giving away OUr technology to Our WELL meaning ENeMIES(Who are well meaning to enslave and destroy free America ) back in the 60s and now it has gone viral ... Nuthin left of CASE plant in RACINE WHERE THIS TUF CASE WAS BIRTHED , nuthin left of the huge holdings of IHC in Chicago and Louisville plants , youtube ALLIS chalmers Plants ,, nuthin left there ,, All These Corparate Giants Made COMBINED EFFORTS to tool up This Fine FREE AMERICA ,and Win WARs in a FREE ECONOMY and make life better and interesting and above all inspiring with hope , but now Succumbing and becoming prey to CORPORATE communism .. When 70 series first came out LaPean implement (west central WI) had an 8 speed 1070 tipped over with a crane at the local fair. It was totally upside down sitting on the cab and a support under the cast iron grill. The local JD dealer had a man there taking pictures, but nothing happened. It sat there all week. I didn"t see it but I worked at the dealer in the early 80"s and they talked about it.

Case did the same thing at the Topeka Farm Show when the 70 series came out. Anybody that wasn't a Case man just shook their heads and said their tractor couldn't stand that.

Saw the tractor at the Dunn county fair in Menomonie. Was fun to listen to the old JD and IH guys come up and say the cab will collapse and sure glad they weren't in it. At the end of the fair they were just just shaking their heads but a few wanted one for farming the hills!!.

You are exactly right. It wouldn't surprise if our ever-so-wise government officials decided to sell our military technology and weapons of war to our enemies and try to convince the public that it was a good idea to help decrease the national debt. The really sad part of it is I'm afraid the general public would agree to it.

That 1070 was sold new to a local farmer, the tractor was sold then on his farm sale about 10 years ago, its still proble running.

Lamount I think we have sold our cruise missle tech to china. China now supplies us with parts.
