Traction? How

Went to pull last week end . But could not hook up . It has to be something with air pressure? Or tires? I run in top cut class with 14.9 38 . Bfg they r nice. Ready to burn tires and try something else. Looking for help?

Need a little more info: What tractor, weight classes, where are you putting your weights, stock or modified 20/18 hitch? If your front tires don't come off the ground at least 3-4 inches then you need more weight on the back and less up front.

Don't know what set up you pull as far as the sled, lenght/angle of the chain ect. but with a short chain 7psi isn't enough for us, 9 works better especially at 6500lbs.

If you pulled at Eaton and want to sell them i would be very interested in buying them. My email should be open. Thanks

traction is a function of many things, nothing wrong with any tire, just needs to be tweaked to work, they limit us to a set hitch height,at 6500# and 7 # in any tire other than a Deep tread, you give up 20 to 30 percent of that height as soon as the load comes on,not to mention biting surface. Many pullers look back at the holes when done pulling, what are they looking at??????????? Low air pressure in itself makes it worse the harder you pull, loosing more height as pull down increases, which compounds when you already started to slip and dig as soon as you moved, chewing up the soil and moving it out makes the hitch lower as does low air pressure. The pullers moving fastest at the end of their pull win because the tires bit better, thus keeping forward motion more, limiting digging up dirt and not loosing as much height of drawbar.

Offhand, I would suggest that you use more air prressure in the 6000 class or higher because it sounds to me like you are only pulling with the sidewall area of your tires instead of all the tread. Try about 12 or 14 and see what happens before you give up on those tires.

As others said more air pressure will help. Go to at least 9 or 10 psi. Unless your front tires are way off the ground I would take 400 off the front and put it on the back.

They are looking at the tire impression left in the dirt. I.E. a concave impression is too much air, convex is too little air, flat is just right. As a rule of thumb. Every track is different and what pulls good today may not work else where. Keeping a log of your pulls will help the S W A G vs W A G when pulling

tell us more about that run. was the front off the ground? how high did it go? have you ever weighed your front and rear axle weight individually when its pulling good? one wheel spin out? how do you have your hitch setup exactly?

If you were at Eaton, Oh not sure which 88 you were, but I kept bumping up my air all day. Kept getting better all day. I'm wide rims and don't believe I have ran enough air in these tires till this weekend. 7 wasn't enough on that track!
