Tractor Cleaner.

Am starting to clean off the grime, grease, and oil that's on the tractor, and was wondering what's a good degreaser to use.? Won't be able to use powerwasher, as I'm in the garage, and wife doesn't want to much mess on floor. Basically spray, soak, then wipe off.

Thanks, Mike

I am looking right now at harbor freight and they have a gun, i am going to get it now. http://www.harborfreight.com/engine-cleaning-gun-68290.html
they also have different sandblasters.

Mike ,
I have used oven cleaner .... it works good unless it is pretty thick .. then you only get part of it and just have to do it again .. also the Spray for Brake Cleaner works good too .... a little messier .....

just my 2 cents ........ mark

Mark, wife has some Easy-Off Oven Cleaner that I might try (she says I replace what ever I borrow),so much for a him/her project. LOL

Thanks, Mike

I like to lay cardboard down on the floor, like a fridge box for example. If it is thick I will get after it with a scraper first and then move on to something like castrol super-clean or brake cleaner or solvent. If it needs lots of fluid and scrubbing with a brush to get it clean I may put a pan underneath to catch the liquid. Once cleaned up pull out the cardboard, fold it up and toss it in the burn barrel. It sure helps keep the concrete clean.

Went to local discount store, and got lots n lots of old cardboard boxes already for that same reason. Also have an old pan that measures 22"x 36" that I'll probably use now, to control runoff. Friend of mine suggested buying a roll of plastic, laying it down first under cardboard.

Appreciate all th good ideas, Mike

I have almost as much luck by merely getting hot water. I have a slop sink, but even hook to the hot water faucet for the washing machine if she is not home. It makes all the difference in the world even without degreaser.

I use Awesome or Awesome orange. I get it at the dollar store for $1.25 a bottle (my wife buys it by the case). I use it to degrease all my tractors. Just spray it on and watch the crap run off.

Mike,
Go to your local Auto Parts store and buy some royal purple cleaner. Then douse it on the tractor with a pump up sprayer out in your driveway, and then man up and use your pressure washer, even if the temp is around freezing. You will be all winter trying to clean your tractor with oven cleaner, and the wifey will not be a happy camper. The royal purple is biodegradable. Probably your greese and grime, is'nt. LOL.

Put it on a trailer if you have to and run it to the high pressure car wash or someplace with a pressure washer, or better yet find a steam jenny.
