I'm thinking it looks like a JD AR (standard version of the A).

Walt, sure looks a lot like my JD60 as I found it except mine is an Orchard model.

Somehow to me the grill doesn't look right for an AR. It would be right for the 60 series.

Indeed, I got my jd b after my grandpa passed away, Im restoring it now seen them go around here restored for 3000. Got a dandy M from my fiace's grandpa after he passed and they go for half as much. That M will pull that B in circles and has hydraulics to boot. Im a green guy, and a red guy, and a yellow guy(other grandpa has a minnie ill get to one day). I like your collection though, you only have to go to one dealer!

If it was a model 60 wouldn't it say so on the tag it says Model A. Just doesn't look like an A.

The late AR/AO have the exact same grill as a 60 standard or orchard, I have a 52 AO in the barn.

You are missing a digit, my AO is a 52, and the serial nunber is 276689, so yours would be a 52 or very early 53, probably has a water pump on it.

Have a winner there.Late styled AR all-fuel.
A low seat 60 is the latest version but tough to find.
Live hydraulics, no rockshaft, transmission driven pto, no powersteering.It probably has a water pump.
I'd take one over a D.
Looks like a very salvageable unit.
If replacing the rear tires, up size to the larger optional units. These tractors can look awful short in the rear with the 13-26 factory treads. 14-26 and 15-26 were options.
There were built to pull heavy draft loads in loose soil while burning cheap refinery reject fuel instead of expensive gasoline.
The large fenders and full platform offered the operator some protection from wind, dust, mud etc.

Walt, have you been poking around my back 40? That sure looks like an AR to me. I've got one hid just about like that except the canopy is on the top of the tractor.
