At work we put together equipment that we use.Well, the boys were ragging on me for putting a 350 chevy in a model A pickup because eveyone does it. words flew and I need to put a tractor motor in this pickup. what engine, gas or diesel will fit in a model A engine compartment'adapt easily to a 4 speed and make it driveable? A ford 172 doesn't count because I've already done that. 200 plus cubes are what we need. HELP!!!!!!!!

Measure length of IHC M engine, see if you can fit it in. For car engines- try 3.8 Buick V6, Kaiser Jeeps had them from factory, local rodders still doing them in jap pickups. RN.

I have a '32 Ford PU. I bought it with the original, but wreaked, Model B engine more than 40 years ago. The first engine I put in was a '51 Mercury. Ran that for 20 years with a '39 Ford tranny. The rear end (replaced 2 pinion gears) wouldn't hold up so I replaced it with a later ('38 ?) axle.

I found a fresh 220 Mercedes diesel. Made an aluminum adaptor plate for the '39 tranny and new motor mounts. It runs nice. Sounds like an original model B.

You should go with a diesel. A VW should fit with no problems. You will probably be able to do 90 mph because they can rev.
