Tractor recomendations

Knowing how to navigate the choice of parts sources has been long a consideration. For a common Weasler PTO shaft it has always been cheaper to go to NAPA or a parts store versus a dealer. True whether a machine is JD or some other brand. As far as tractors go I would say finding parts for a JD 3020 or 4030 will be easier than finding parts for an AC 185 or Oliver 1655 in the year 2023. I do stand by my original premise in that out of a group of different brands and models buy the one in the best condition of the group.

I heard the MF1080 had final drive issues.

I'm like everyone else, budget is as cheap as possible. But I know you get what you pay for. 5 to 10K would be a realistic price range.

I like the pull type rake, I only wish it lifted higher to get over the windrows when trying to get out of the field.

I've never been shy to share my opinion. Even when I'm at the JD training center in Dubuque.

I've done small squares in the past with my IH430. Which the MF65 does well with. I'm doing round bales now with a NH 846 and the MF65 does ok with it even on hills. But I recently bought a Ranchworx 8'x42" aerator and it takes everything the MF65 has. And I've been wanting to upgrade to a newer baler so it's time for something with a little more power.

I'm not married to any particular brand. I just want something easy to work on and reliable. Every tractor has an issue of some sorts but steering around the common failures is what I'm most interested in.

I realize I'm poking the hornets nest with "which is best" and opinions are like buttholes everyone's got one and they all stink. I'm just seeing what people think and what kind of experiences you've had. Good bad or ugly.

Thanks for the replies

(quoted from post at 22:04:46 08/09/23) It's time for me to upgrade to a larger tractor. The Massey MF65 is just a little too small but a darn good tractor.

So I'm looking for something diesel and just as reliable in the 75 hp range.

I'm kind of partial to the Allis Chalmers 185 but the lack of a differential lock is a bit of a concern. I'm also not a big John Deere fan, I work for Deere and their engineering leaves something to be desired.

What are your suggestions?

Something 4x4 that is not
More than Tier II emissions .

Case 930CK, 1030, 970, 1070, 1175 are relatively simple, reliable and easy to work on. Prices are low especially on the 30 series as the hydraulics and ergonomics are behind their competition. 930CK and 1030 sell under $5,000. 970, 1070, 1175 sell under $10,000.
