tractor road speed

I have a ferguson to20 which I use around my home . last summer I went on a tractor ride with my to20 and I enjoyed it. I was with the 10mph group and that was fine. I am thinking about buying a CASE VAC or COCKSHUT 30 or a massy harris 30. My question what is, is the roar speed of these tractor fast enough so I could use them in a tractor ride. thank you

Full throttle in 4th on a VAC is 8. something mph. I suspect the Massy 30 would be faster, as I once owned a Massey 44 that would easily hit 24-25 in 5th.

A Massey 30 with 28" rear wheels is hard put to make 10 mph on the road, while the old gray Fergusons could run at about 15 mph without any trouble.

If you want a fast tractor, get yourself a late 1950's or 1960's era Case with a triple range transmission. They will do 25 to 30 mph. I don't know how safe that is but they sure will do it.

No joke, I bought an old 400B Case-O-Matic and took it out on the road for a ride after it would finally run again. Felt fast so I went and grabbed my little GPS unit to check it out....26 MPH! I could adjust the governor up more and get 30 I think. Not to safe on dry rotted tires and flopin' steering! That think could pass all but the newest tractors on the road.

While were here, how fast will my little Allis B go in 3rd gear?? Is this a road speed or a fast field gear (raking hay, pulling wagons, etc)

Book speed on the Model C is 7 1/2 mph with 9 inch standard tire. Your B would be about the same. Too fast for raking hay, but I used have raked straw that fast, with the AC pto rake, with the rake in low gear.
