Try Macs auto truck electric 440 774 2863.
But I have been hearing staggering prices on Jap electrical stuff in recent years. 800 for a complete unit does not seem out of line.

Your only other recourse is get a parts book and try to find the parts for someone to rebuild it.

I"ll be a monkey's uncle if any Mitsubishi tractor starters are made in the USA...

I have had excellent luck with overseas starters, especially the gear reduction starters available for older tractors.

google is your friend lots of them for bucks

DB electrical's return policy regarding small engine ignition modules: they don't even want the old ones back until the third one ordered is defective.

I had ordered 3 for a Kohler twin and none of them worked. They were $28. Next step up was $144 from a mower shop, which worked. It actually said Kohler on it so I knew the odds were improving. Some guys had them for over $400.

Locate a nearby starter/generator repair shop, even electric motor repair shop. They can rebuild your old one.
The local shop in my area didn't want anything to do with repairing my starters, 1 for my C70 GMC and one for my Skidoo. Said it wasn't worth doing for the price of a new one from offshore.

There's your solution then. I'd have told the shop I wanted American quality and reliability not the lowest price.
