Tractor weight

OK guys, my transmission is counting on you. I"m trying to buy a Farmall C tractor and need to haul it about 350 miles. A trailer will weigh around 2000 lbs. but I need to know the weight of the tractor. Just want to make sure I don"t have to buy a transmission when I"m done pulling it.

A Farmall C will weigh some where in the ball park of 2900 lbs. Depending wheel weights and if there is fluid in the tires. Yo didn't say what you are pulling it with but it should cause you any problems in 1/2 ton pickup or equivalent.

A half ton pickup can handle a farmall C. Just make sure you have two axles and working brakes.

As for your tranny, DON'T FLOOR IT!

I agree with the comments posted so far. Used to pull a bumper hitch 16 ft livestock trailer with anywhere between 5 and 12 head of cattle behind a 66 Chevy half ton short bed stepside, no problem. That was before trailer brakes were common. Anyhow, IF YOU have any experience pulling trailers, should be no problem. I have pulled a Ford 5000 diesel behind a 91 Dodge half ton with no problem, the 5000 is a more than 6000 lb tractor. Just need to know what you are doing. That means if you are on some of the cement poured roads where every joint in the pavement bounces harder, you need to slow down or get on back roads where you don't have to deal with that issue.

I know they are not always right about things but I find external_link a good place to find general tractor specs.

As every one else said IF your truck is in good running order, IF your trailor is in good shape, and IF you know what your do'n you should have no problems.

Good luck.

That 5000 must have had fluid or weights then. I have a 7610 that only weighs 6000 with no fluid or weights.

I was just wondering as the manual for my 7610 said it only weighed 56 or 5800. Don't remember exactly, but do remember thinking a 86 HP tractor should be a lot heavier than that. It has been a very good tractor though. Does have fluid and 500 pounds on the front.
