Trailer Locks

I am hoping to find a trailer lock set for my enclosed trailer. I would like them to all be keyed alike. Ideally I want an insert type coupler lock (that goes where the ball would) and then 2 or 3 exterior rated padlocks with all of them sharing a key pattern.

I know sets exist with the coupler lock and a hitch drawbar set keyed alike but has anyone ever seen a coupler and padlock set keyed alike?

I have a set of the pin and hitch locks. I lost the cover to the pin lock and had to cut it off because it got filled up with salt and won't take a key anymore. for the hitch, I cut the threaded part off a ball and shove that up in the hitch, then use a padlock on the hitch lever. So far its discouraged all thievery. That way its easy to match all the padlocks. And the padlock is quicker to use on the hitch than the one from that set that is compact but screws together.

Padlocks may not be safe from bolt cutters, but if a thief has a bolt cutter he may not be deterred by mere words, and the law is not in your favor when you blow a hole in him. And you are not safe from getting slapped with the heavy bolt cutters.

I understand the desire to secure your trailers, but..........depending on where they're parked, you may be better off removing one or more wheels. There was a ring of trailer theives two counties over and the cops finally figured out how they were able to steal them so quickly. They made no attempt to hook to the trailer; would just back their extended receiver hitch under whatever part of the trailer hitch they could 'hang' it under and drive away to a secure location. If for some reason, it came unhooked, they just kept driving..........

There is a lock system that hooks around the leaf spring and thru the hole in the rim that I am looking at to secure my trailers. It has the type lock on it that can"nt be cut with bolt cutters. If they tried to pull off with it the wheel would drag.

Is there such a thing as an exterior rated padlock with a 1/4" diameter? I have used a set of standard padlocks on it last year and when water gets in and freezes the lock it isn't much fun.

Ive seen locks that leave no room for bolt cutters.Gates are often locked with the padlock inside a heavy steel pipe welded to the gate. The local store had an outside freezer with a 3/8 chain around it with a cut proof padlock.one of the clerks locked the keys inside the freezer. She asked me if I could open it.Other keys were with it so they couldnt close up.My bolt cutters cut the chain with ease. When I was constable some local yahoos tried to shoot the padlock open on the gate on the town dump. They used a 16 ga shot gun, left the case on the ground.Didnt work so they tried a 357 mag, left 6 cases on the ground. The lock finally gave up.I asked around and found only one fellow in town used a 16 ga.Gave his name and cases to the sheriff dept and let them handle it.Nothing of value in the dump. The locked gate was to keep out of towners from using the dump.Dumb crooks.
